September 16 is the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer, established by the United Nations to commemorate the signing of the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer in 1987. According to the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, as the largest developing country, China has always strictly fulfilled its international commitments. To date, it has eliminated approximately 628,000 tons of ozone-depleting substances in production and use, accounting for more than half of the total eliminated by developing countries.

Currently, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment is compiling the "China's Implementation of the Montreal Protocol National Program (2024-2030)" and is expected to be released soon. This program will clarify China's timetable and roadmap for fulfilling its commitments before 2030, focusing on strengthening the construction of a full lifecycle management system for hydrofluorocarbons, potent greenhouse gases that contribute to global warming, and jointly promoting the fulfillment work to a new level.
