On September 19, the third China-Japan policy dialogue on carbon emission reduction was successfully held. Both sides agreed to make good use of the China-Japan Energy Efficiency and Environmental Protection Comprehensive Forum and the carbon emission reduction policy dialogue cooperation and communication platform to further deepen pragmatic cooperation and expand multi-level exchanges.
On September 19, the third China-Japan policy dialogue on carbon emission reduction was successfully held. Both sides agreed to make good use of the China-Japan Comprehensive Forum on Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection and the carbon emission reduction policy dialogue cooperation and exchange platform to further deepen practical cooperation and expand multi-level exchanges.
On September 19, the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) of China and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) of Japan successfully held the third China-Japan policy dialogue on carbon emission reduction in Beijing. Liu Dechun, Director-General of the Department of Circular Economy and Environment of the NDRC, and Shinichi Mihara, Chief Coordinator for International Carbon Neutrality Policy at the Agency for Natural Resources and Energy, METI, co-chaired the meeting.
Director-General Liu Dechun introduced and explained policies concerning accelerating the comprehensive green transformation of economic and social development, establishing a new mechanism for the comprehensive transformation from energy consumption dual control to carbon emission dual control, a new round of energy conservation and carbon reduction actions, large-scale equipment upgrades, and the trade-in of used consumer goods for new ones. Chief Coordinator Mihara explained Japan's policies for promoting green transformation, including the Clean Energy Strategy, the development of renewable energy, and the infrastructure construction needed for the green transformation of industrial sectors.
Both sides agreed to be guided by the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries on deepening cooperation in green development, make good use of the China-Japan Comprehensive Forum on Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection and the carbon emission reduction policy dialogue cooperation and exchange platform, further deepen practical cooperation, expand multi-level exchanges, jointly address global challenges with a proactive and positive attitude, achieve a higher level of complementary advantages and mutual benefit and win-win results, and continuously push the green development cooperation between the two countries to a new level.
Relevant officials from the Department of Circular Economy and Environment, the Department of High Technology, the Department of Industry, and the Department of International Cooperation of the NDRC of China, the Department of Electricity of the National Energy Administration, the Agency for Natural Resources and Energy of the METI of Japan, the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO) of Japan, and relevant personnel from the Japanese Embassy in China attended the meeting.
